AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT FACT SHEET — INDEXATION OF MILITARY SUPERANNUATION PENSIONS

The Government recently commissioned what it calls a "Fact Sheet" in response to ADSO letters asking for fair indexation of military superannuation pensions. Their MPs and Senators now routinely enclose this "fact" sheet when replying to constituent requests for fair indexation.

The Government "fact" sheet is inaccurate, avoids the key indexation issues, and is economical with the real facts. It is a triumph of spin over substance.

But don't take ADSO's word for it. Make up your own mind...

Yes No Is it any wonder that our politicians are generally held in contempt by the public, and in particular by the retired military population. Voting along party lines is far more important than truly and honestly representing the electorate and political spin is an art form perfected by the major parties. Added to this is the demonstrated prostitution of principles, independents in particular, to preserve/ensure a place in government.
Logic has no place in the twisted rationale of Labor politicians and fobbing off representations to our so-called ‘represent atives’ is the delegated function of minders/protectors of precious ministers. The extent to which our Prime Minister and her Government will go to preserve their seats to the right of the Speaker is mind-boggling.
And to have the gall to turn up at military funerals and commemorations, knowing that those left behind are treated so miserly in respect of pensions is truly sickening. As for the disgusting treatment of our Vietnam Vets not all that long ago and the skullduggery in meddling with our DFRDB, there is no way the current crop of union representatives sitting in control of our nation will ever concede any responsibility for, or even acknowledgement of, injustices they have inflicted. Union representation is for first class citizens, service people are relegated to a lower class!
